Move over kale and matcha, there’s a new super green superfood in town that everyone needs to know about.
Welcome to the superfood club, moringa! Moringa oleifera, also known as a horseradish tree because of the bitter flavour of the roots, is a tree native to India, Pakistan and Nepal. Moringa is a plant that grows incredibly fast and is comparable to growing at the rate of weeds AKA super quickly!
Whilst this may be one of the first times you’ve heard about moringa, it’s a plant that’s been around for centuries and one that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years!
The leaves are the most popular part of the plant and can be eaten whole but you’ll find that the flowers are most often dried and ground into a fine powder, which you can sprinkle in smoothies and juices and on yoghurt.
Moringa is packed with nutrients and is one of the only plants to contain all nine essential amino acids. It also contains high quantities of vitamin A, vitamin C, iron and calcium and is loaded with antioxidants. It’s like a natural multi-vitamin. With its long list of nutrients, it’s really no surprise that moringa nourishes the immune system, supports hormone levels, promotes healthy circulation, providse relief from acne, boosts energy, encourages a balanced metabolism and has natural anti-ageing properties.
Studies say that moringa has four times the amount of protein as eggs, seven times the amount of vitamin C as oranges and even 15 times the amount of potassium as bananas!
Sounds pretty good to us so where do we sign up? Get your hands on moringa here and we promise your body will thank you for it!
