A couple of weeks ago, hemp was finally made legal for food consumption in Australia.
This is a huge deal considering it’s the world’s most nutritionally complete food source and is considered to be one of the best plant-based foods to exist. Wait one second. We just heard you come to a screeching halt in your tracks. Say what?!
Yep, it’s true. The newest member of the ‘superfood’ club has quickly reached #1 status based on its unbelievable benefits. Hemp is an ideal source of essential fatty acids and contains all 21 amino acids. So basically it’s food for our brain. Besides amino and essential fatty acids, hemp also contains omegas 3, 6 and 9 and pretty much every mineral known to mankind.
One of the reasons hemp is so beneficial is because it doesn’t require any pesticides or herbicides to grow, which therefore makes it a naturally organic crop that doesn’t need processing of any kind.
Although, we believe everyone should eat a balanced diet, scientists believe that you could have a nutritionally complete diet just from consuming hemp and water alone. Crazy stuff, right? This has blown our mind!
So basically, hemp is the number one superfood and rightly so. You can sprinkle hemp seeds in your salads, add them to smoothies and cereal and on avocado toast. You can also have a tablespoon or two of hemp seed oil or put the oil into your favourite dressings.
Besides food, hemp can be used for skincare, homewares, clothing, textiles and even houses (yep, Hempcrete is a thing)!
