Last week I went to see La Boheme at the Sydney Opera House. It was my first time ever at the opera. I wasn’t sure what to expect and didn’t think I would be an opera person but I was completely blown away by how incredible it was. I thought that maybe I wouldn’t be able to follow the story because it’s sung in Italian, but they have subtitles on a screen so you can follow along with the story.
As it turned out, once the show began, I totally forgot to look at the subtitles – I was that mesmerised by the singing and the power of the performance. It was absolutely incredible.
Now… I know this is inappropriate to say, but one of the other highlights of the night for me was the food truck I discovered at Circular Quay. Food trucks are immensely popular in LA and New York.
What’s a food truck, you ask? Yep, it’s exactly that – a truck that serves food. I realise that it might sound like a late night kebab van at a dodgy petrol station but it’s actually not – food trucks are a gourmet foodies’ version of a pop-up shop. This particular night, there was a pastizzi food truck (my choice) and a fresh pasta truck. For anyone who finds themselves in Sydney, I can highly recommend the pastizzi one, which also sells organic juices (I loved the grapefruit juice… perfect!).
All up, it was an amazing night. If you’ve never been to the opera, I’d definitely suggest popping it on your must-do list.
