I’m all about old school beauty trends, and the 90s is most definitely one of them.

All the nude, brown and wine stained lip trends on the runway have made me nostalgic for the 90s and it’s about time we brought it back!

Voluminous hair (think Cindy Crawford circa her Pepsi days), soft blushing cheeks, flawless skin, perfectly understated cat eyeliner, neutral eyeshadows and plump, matte lips are all perfect right now and it is so easy to recreate the look we all know and love.

The 90s makeup trend is simple and universal with room for flexibility and creativity, and that’s why I love it. Add darker shadows for a night out or lose the liner for a softer day look. Either way, it’s so easy to tailor it to your tastes.

HOW TO:

Starting with clean moisturized skin, apply primer.
Apply medium to full coverage foundation all over, essentially creating a flawless base.
Cover lids with neutral eyeshadow (or go for darker colours if you want a more dramatic effect) and then create a cat eye using eyeliner. (See how to create the perfect cat eye using our tutorial here)
Complete eyes with mascara and be sure to fill in your brows to achieve that ‘done’ look.
Contour cheeks using a matte bronzer and highlight the cheek bone with an illuminator. Apply a soft, neutral blush.
Use a mocha (or closely coloured) lip liner to create a full looking pout and fill in with a matching lipstick.
