Hey guys, Maha here. And I’ve got some incredibly exciting news to share! Just recently, Sally was nominated for an InStyle Women of Style Award in the lifestyle category. For those of you who don’t know, this is a huuuge honour, as the awards are dedicated to women who are leaders in their field and whose achievements touch many of our lives.
The lifestyle category in the Women of Style Awards is for women who have contributed across a vast range of areas. This means that Sal is being recognised for her work in TV, in business (aka SWIISH!) and in writing books, as well as for the vast amount of charity work that she does.
Having been alongside Sally throughout her journey, I know how much she has given to get where she is today. She works harder than anyone I know and is constantly giving back. Of course, Sal is way too humble to write about this herself – and to be honest she will absolutely kill me when she sees that I have written this! – which is why myself and the rest of the SWIISH team are calling on you guys to help her get the recognition she deserves. How? By Voting!
That’s right – the competition is completely in your hands! You want to know the best part though? By voting, you also get put in the draw to win a Georg Jensen watch valued at $2,225. So not only could you help Sally win, but you could also score yourself some stylish new wrist candy too. Double win!
To vote, simply head to the InStyle Women of Style voting page, enter your name and email and explain in 25 words or less why you think Sally should win.
For those of you who have been following Sally for a while now, you’ll know how much of a champion she is. But just in case you need any more reason to vote, here’s a bit of background…
Sal is the type of person who will never let anything get in her way. At the age of 30, she made the brave decision to leave money, status and security in order to pursue her dream of working in television. For years, she worked for free. It was an incredibly long, hard journey but being the fighter she is, she refused to give up.
Today, Sally has made a name for herself as a respected TV presenter. She has worked as a travel reporter for the Sydney Weekender, she was the National Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter for Today Tonight, she co-hosts The Daily Edition on Channel 7 and makes regular appearances on Sunrise and The Morning Show. We are so proud of her!
Then came SWIISH. Sally was part way through her chemotherapy when she decided she wanted to do a blog focused on luxe-for-less. And although she was very sick at the time, everyone knew she wasn’t going to let that get in her way! As soon as her treatment ended, SWIISH was born. And let me tell you, it was no easy feat. We worked around the clock. There were many days in the beginning when we wondered what the hell we were doing. But we believed in the idea and refused to give up.
Today, SWIISH has grown beyond what we could ever have imagined. We have had a complete website overhaul, changed logos, built a small team, opened an online store. Without Sal, none of it ever would have been possible.
On top of this, Sally has co-authored two extremely successful recipe books, with a third on the way. She has also co-written two 30-Day Health Challenges and has partnered with me in the development of two brand new products, our SWIISH DELIISH Super Green Superfood Powder, and the recently released Super Green Smoothie frozen packs, which are now available in supermarkets all over Australia.
Despite all these incredible time-commitments, Sal has always made time to give back to the community. As an ambassador for Shake It Up, Sally used her TV presence to encourage people to ‘Pause for Parkinson’s’ in order to raise awareness and funds for research. She also works with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, participating in events and social media campaigns in order to raise money for life-changing cancer research. In addition, Sally has worked closely with the Breast Cancer Network Australia, donating special edition copies of her book ‘Never Stop Believing’ in order to raise money for the cause. On top of this, she is also an ambassador for the Nelune Foundation and the Sony Foundation. The part that you don’t see is that Sal receives hundreds of letters each week from people going through illness or infertility issues or are just generally struggling and she replies to each and every one.
We are so proud of Sally for everything she has achieved. She truly is a beautiful person from the inside out and in our opinion, the work she has done deserves to be recognised and celebrated. If you agree, then join us in supporting Sally and Vote for her today!
