Floral prints have been a hot trend for summer in the last few years, and will be again for 2013/14. But you don’t have to wait till then to rock the look. Floral prints look fab during winter, adding some much needed wardrobe brightness.
swiish tips for wearing winter floral prints:
Do: Pick floral prints that incorporate the season’s hot colours like oxblood, or monochrome. A floral with a black background and richer colours is great for winter.
Don’t: Wear overly tropical items. Although we loved these prints in summer and want to bring some sunshine into our winter outfits, wearing tropical prints can risk making your ensemble appear confused.
Do: Match your floral number with bright winter items. A red-based floral blouse with red skinny cigarette pants is a killer ensemble. Or you can incorporate a monochrome floral item with neon accessories for a stand out get up.
Don’t: Wear floral items in super-light fabrics like linen. Instead, opt for floral prints in heavier materials like velvet or brocade.
Do: Match your face with your floral. A deep lipstick looks oh so sophisticated with a vibrant floral outfit. We are in love with burgundy and rich plum shades this season.
Don’t: Try and match floral prints with other similar floral patterns. Clashing patterns is a hot trend however floral prints are patterns that look best matched with bright block colours or other patterns such as stripes. See our swiish guide to mixing prints
Do: Try tapestry. It’s everywhere right now and it’s a great way to make floral patterns look great during the winter, especially on dresses.
