Getting ‘Summer Ready’ doesn’t have to be a big, daunting chore. With the right guidance, it can be easier than you think, and even fun! I recently discovered a fab new app called A Season of Change, which fits in so well with my own fitness philosophy.
Crash diets and body breaking boot camps might work for some in the short term, but the key to looking and feeling great for summer is about consistency. The team at A Season of Change believe that that the best way to achieve visible and sustainable results is to take baby steps and work on making a positive transformation, mentally and physically. Spot on, I reckon. They have a 10 week program which offers tonnes of inspo, recipe ideas and workout plans to help get you feeling great inside and out.
Amongst team SWIISH, we have a few top tips we wanted to share with our readers on how to make getting ‘Summer Ready’ easier than ever before…
BE PREPARED
Keeping a good supply of healthy ingredients in the house is a must if you want to make sure you’re always making the right choices. While we always have fresh fruits and vegies on hand, we love to chop some up and keep them frozen so we can throw them in the oven at a minutes notice (or in a blender!).
DON’T RELY ON WILLPOWER
If it’s not there, you can’t eat it! Simple as that. Keeping the chocolate and cookies will make the battle with your conscience a whole lot easier. We like to keep some homemade healthy treats on hand instead.
UP THE VEGIE INTAKE
Most green vegetables are packed full of vitamins and minerals, but have little to no calories. This makes them a great option if you’re looking to fill the hunger hole but want to keep within your calorie quota for the day. Try whipping up big superfood salad or some delicious zucchini noodles with roasted tomatoes and an avocado dressing to knock out a few servings for the day.
CHANGE IT UP
If you’re doing the same routine over and over again, working out will become boring, and that’s one way to really slow down progress! Season of Change expert Anna Bramley says, “someone who does the same activity all the time is likely to plateau much sooner than someone who varies their workouts.” She suggests varying your workouts from week to week in terms of speed, distance, hills or resistance. You might even like to try something different altogether. In the SWIISH team we like to challenge each other to new and different workouts that we do together. Everyone takes a turn in choosing the new activity for the week.
GET SOME GUIDANCE
It’s okay to get a little expert help sometimes. In fact, you’ll find it makes things a whole lot easier! I love that the Season of Change app delivers daily updates like delicious recipes, nutrition insights, eating plans, workouts and other helpful tips straight to your phone and inbox. It also offers great advice on creating a positive mindset and improving your self-image to make sure your inner self stays nourished as well.
Real change, sustainable change comes from being kind but firm with yourself – and practice. Loads of practice. That’s how healthy habits form. Season of Change are there to help you get the body you want with a lifestyle you can actually live. Sounds good to us!
