The film is based on the novel, which was both written and set in Russia in the 18th Century, sharing the passion of a woman, Anna Karenina, played by the beautiful and talented Keira Knightley. Anna is willing to give up everything, her highly respected husband (Jude Law), her child and her status – for true love.
The romance begins when the Anna travels to Moscow to help save her brothers marriage. There the socialite meets Count Vrosky (the handsome Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and sparks fly instantly between the two.
