Happy Hangover

Had a few too many wines at Xmas lunch? Feeling a little hazy? Well, forget fatty greasy foods! Fruit and vegie juices contain high levels of vitamins and nutrients to help rid you of those nasty toxins, replenish your body and power through the day!

 

Watermelon, Strawberry & Mint

The watermelon, cucumber and coconut in this yummy juice, offer loads of hydration, while strawberries give a dose of vitamin A and C, restoring the mind and body. Mint soothes the tummy, helping with digestion and elevating your mood! An instant pick me up!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of Watermelon
  • 1/2 Cup Strawberries
  • 4-6 Mint Sprigs
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 Cup of Coconut Juice (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut the rind off of the watermelon and cut into cubes
  2. Peel the cucumber and cut into cubes
  3. Cut the leaves off of the strawberries, hull and quarter
  4. Clean the mint leaves
  5. Blend all ingredients until smooth (including coconut water, if desired)
 

Banana Blitz

Bananas are packed with potassium and natural antacids to help with nausea; this super fruit is also high in magnesium which can help relax those pounding blood vessels causing your headache. Oranges, as we all know, are high in vitamin C, helping to combat your hangover and give you a natural sugar high!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Orange Juice
  • 1 Cup Strawberries
  • 2 Bananas

Directions:

  1. Cut the leaves off the strawberries, hull and quarter
  2. Peel bananas, cut into quarters
  3. Blend orange juice, strawberries and bananas until smooth
 

Tomato Power Punch 

Full of essential nutrients like vitamin C and lycopene which are contained in tomatoes, this juice gives you an added kick with the spiciness of the jalapeño. The ginger helps to sooth your stomach. Though it sounds like a Bloody Mary, don’t be tempted to add vodka!

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium-size tomatoes
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2-inch piece of ginger
  • 1 jalapeño pepper (remove the seeds to make it less spicy)
  • 1/4 of one large cucumber

Directions:

  1. Chop tomatoes, celery, ginger and cucumber
  2. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño and then chop roughly
  3. Squeeze the juice of the lemon
  4. Blend all ingredients until smooth
