Azure cobalt blue is touted by Vogue as a colour for “women who know what they want and obtain it with their charm”. Hahaha – I don’t know if that’s always true but I love the description, and I especially love this bold colour which is perfect for brightening up a winter wardrobe.
Cobalt was all over the runways at the A/W 2014 shows, making this electric colour the ‘it’ hue of the season.
Designers have been embracing cobalt with attention grabbing dresses, saturated separates and high voltage azure accents. The colour lends itself to all skin tones, and I reckon it can pack a punch to so many different outfit combos.
For a minimalist chic look, wear just a sliver of the colour through accents or accessories and pair with slate grey, white or black. Think statement blazers, a bright clutch or a bold sculpted heel for a fashion pop.
Or stand out in a crowd with a modern cobalt shift, matching suit or long coat complimented with metallic accents in silver or gold. The hue will look rich and classic when paired with basic black, beige and nude.
If you want to really make a statement then match cobalt pieces with accessories or separates in bright oranges, greens or purples. Colour clashing has never been so easy.
Want to inject this vibrant hue into your wardrobe? We do too! Here are swiish’s top cobalt pieces.
