Belinda Jeffrey is a lot of things – she’s an entrepreneur, a business owner, a mentor, an ambassador… but when it comes to innovative hair colouring – this superstar stylist is in a league of her own. It’s no wonder celebrities like Megan Gale, Miranda Kerr, Baz Luhrmann, Russell Crowe and Erica Packer all rely on her for their colour and style.
Belinda is renowned for her work in film, TV, advertising and fashion and her attention to detail has earned her a reputation as one of Australia’s most highly sought after colourists. It’s also the reason we’ve been going to see her for well over 12 years now. The fact that she is one of the nicest, funniest, most down to earth people on the planet is just an added bonus!
While it took years of hard work and experience to get where she is today, part of her success can be attributed to passion. “I absolutely love working with clients and being in the salon. For me there is no better feeling than creating a look for a client and having them walk out the door looking and feeling amazing.” says Belinda.
Recently, Belinda was handpicked to be an ambassador for the life-changing Wella-UNICEF Making Waves program – which offers the gift of education to vulnerable young people in emerging countries through training, mentoring and life-skills education. Most of the adolescents in the program are from vulnerable groups – such as working adolescents, orphans, children from very poor families, those who are victims of or at risk of abuse, neglect, violence or in contact with the law. With the program, students are given the chance to learn essential life and business skills and to take part in community activities that help to increase their confidence and social integration. The program is designed to educate vulnerable youth and set them on the path to independence.
The impact on Belinda was felt beyond just the technical details of her work “being involved in the WELLA-UNICEF Making Waves mentoring program was an incredibly rare and special experience. To have helped with starting these student’s hairdressing careers in Vietnam, is honestly more a gift from them to me, than me to them. It’s not often in life you get to make a firsthand difference like this. I have made lifelong friends with the other mentors and to be able share our experiences with fellow global Wella hairdressers is icing on the cake. My heart has opened and this experience has definitely changed my perpesctive.”
