Making your own chalkboard paint is surprisingly quick and easy, and it’s a lot of fun too. The best part is that transforming surfaces into a chalkboard creates so much potential. Think fresh homewares ideas, or even converting a plain wall into a fun canvas for the kids.
Here’s how:
You will need…
• ½ cup of acrylic paint (you pick the colour)
• 1 tablespoon unsanded grout (from hardware stores)
• A bowl, tin or bucket to make your mixture in
• Paint stirrer
• Paint brush
• Something you want to turn into a chalkboard eg. a wooden board
What to do…
1. Stir grout and paint together until all the lumps have gone
2. Paint your surface with the chalkboard paint you’ve just mixed up
And ta-da! It is that simple. The paint will begin to harden once it’s been mixed so make sure you paint your surface as soon as you’ve mixed out all the lumps
