We were so thrilled and honoured to be a part of a very special event this week – 200 Years of Empowerment – A Fashion Journey – which was all about raising funds and awareness for the amazing Dress For Success Sydney.
If you haven’t heard of Dress for Success, it is the most wonderful non-profit organisation that empowers and inspires women to achieve financial independence. Dress For Success do this by providing professional work attire, as well as training and support to help women in need.
As part of the event, the SWIISH team did an Instagram takeover for Westpac. What does Westpac have to do with an event like this, we hear you ask? Well, they play an incredibly crucial role in Dress For Success. Not only are they sponsors, but many Westpac staff also volunteer to provide financial literacy content including tools and education for women in need to access, via Dress For Success Think educational topics like superannuation and budgeting. This truly helps women to feel empowered to achieve their potential in the workforce.
So back to Wednesday night – the event was a runway show that showcased fashion throughout the past 200 years. All of the clothing were original pieces and some had never been worn! From Hermes, Balenciaga and Pucci, the whole collection was just incredible and it was amazing to see how fashion has changed over the decades to suit the needs of women. Charlotte Smith from The Darnell Collection curated the entire night. It was just spectacular.
Sal modelled the most stunning dress from the 1950s designed by Elizabeth Arden. Oh em gee, we cannot even begin to tell you how gorgeous the dress was. She was joined on the catwalk by other familiar faces and friends such as Ben Fordham, Adam Spencer, Deborah Knight, Julia Baird and Emma Birdsall.
We felt so privileged to be able to share in a night that was all about supporting other women. We spoke to Bernadette Inglis, the Group General Manager of Westpac who shared with us just how important it is to Westpac to be part of something that enables better futures for women. With Dress For Success already having helped over 12,000 women since 2009, the SWIISH team are so proud to be be part of this wonderful community.
