Although the idea of wearing wool can bring back memories of itchy, granny-style knits or the scratchy woollen kilts from our school days it is by far one of our favourite materials to wear today. Quality wool is luxurious, practical, classic and always in style.
Plus it’s a natural, breathable fibre which makes it perfect in our unpredictable Australian climate and as we are the world’s largest producer of Merino wool it’s a no-brainer we love it in our fashion. From wool accessories like hats and scarves to a statement coat, classic cable knit jumper or trendy maxi coatigan, wearing wool gives your look an instant touch of luxe.
Luckily for fashionistas across Sydney, Wool Week is about to take place so spending some hard earned cash on a wool item or two has never needed a better excuse! Wool Week is part of the Campaign for Wool Initiative (led by global patron, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales!), and launched locally by the Woolmark Company.
Here are three looks I recently created at one of my absolute fave places to shop – Macquarie Centre – as they celebrate Wool Week. I really love them all so am having trouble picking a favourite. Would love to know which one you like best!
LOOK ONE – SAMBAG
Ok so we all know the power of a basic camel coat. It is a timeless piece and adds a polished touch to any look. I’ve given this gorgeous camel coat from Sambag a modern take by pairing it with an all-white t-shirt and jeans combo and layering over a cable knit cardi. To finish off the look, I’ve added in a leopard print cross body bag and neutral ankle boots for casual cool. Love it!
Michael Stars S/Slv Scoop Top in White – $80 Charlotte Wool & Viscose Coat – $380 Kate Suede – $280 | Molly Wool & Cotton Cardigan – $400 Kristen Leopard Print Pony – $320

LOOK TWO – UNIQLO
I am loving this shades of grey look from Uniqlo. So many gorgeous different wool textures to mix and match. This is perfect for any stylista who likes a practical yet feminine outfiit. I teamed street chic grey skinnies with a fine grey knit, a gorgeous scarf and navy overcoat – perfect for looking gorgeous on those cool, windy days. The wide brim floppy hat has a casual luxe appeal that just finishes off the look.
Wide Brimmed Hat – $29.90 Wool Blended Pea Coat in Navy – $149.90 | Cashmere Scarf in Grey – $59.90 Supima Cotton Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt in Grey – $19.90 |
LOOK THREE – DECJUBA
This look is so cute! Best of all it’s effortless. It’s all about a slogan tee mixed with a black leather-look skirt and a gorgeous long knit coatigan (yep – that’s a mix of a coat and a cardigan). Add in some peep-toe booties and a black backpack and you have yourself one effortlessly cool, comfortable and super chic outfit.
Ello Tee – $59.95 Piper Pu Skirt – $79.95 Jasper Cut Out Heel – $129.95 | The Coatigan in Black – $129.95 Robyn Backpack – $69.95

I had so much fun styling all these looks and to be honest I can’t wait for it to get even colder (never thought I’d say that!!) so I can wear all my wool at once!!
Wool Week 2015 runs from May 18 – May 31 and fashion central Macquarie Centre will play host to 40 woolly sheep sculptures along with a giant wool installation and my favourite, a Wool Week shopping night on May 21st. I’ll see you there!
