Now that winter has well and truly settled in, we have had so many requests for details about about what we’re doing to maintain our skin, which in summer was glowing and gorgeously sun-kissed. It’s only natural that your skin will take a beating (dry, flaky skin anyone?) in the cooler months so we have a remedy tucked up our sleeves that will leave you with that summer sun-kissed glow.
Besides always hydrating and moisturising, a great way to rejuvenate and replenish the skin is through microdermabrasion, which is an advanced method of exfoliating the skin using a machine. What happens is that the body replaces the dead skin cells that have been removed with fresh new cells. This basically means you can say see ya later to dull, lifeless skin cells and hello to plump, hydrated skin that makes you look like you packed your bags and set up permanent residence in a day spa (can you even imagine?!).
Microdermabrasion is perfect for freshening up tired skin and because it’s free from any chemicals or nasties, it’s suitable for all skin types. Hooray for our sensitive skin type friends! For our microdermabrasion sessions, we hit up our local Results Laser Clinic (they do waaaaay more than just laser) and the lovely team looks after our skin so well.
We can run in and out in our lunch break (most sessions only take about half an hour) and then we still have time to grab some sushi for lunch and maybe another sneaky coffee or smoothie. We always leave Results feeling a million bucks, and have a sneaking suspicion that you will too.
If you’re wondering whether microdermabrasion is painful, it really isn’t at all – it basically feels like a gentle facial – and to be honest, just knowing that all of those dead skin cells are being removed makes us feel fab about prioritising our skincare regime. The other thing is that removing those cells means that any skincare products you use are absorbed at a much higher rate, hence potentially increasing their effectiveness. When you fork out a bunch of cash on skincare, you want to know it’s actually working, so this is a good way to ensure that it is.
If you have any questions about microdermabrasion, or want to give it a go, get in touch with the team at Results Laser Clinic and they’ll be more than happy to help, otherwise you can head to their website for all the deets!
