SUN SAFE IN STYLE

As you guys are well aware, I’m a huge fan of double duty fashion. It’s all about getting maximum mileage from your closet and bang for your buck, all whilst looking good and feeling amazing.

Recently I discovered a new range of goodies that hits the mark. Not only does this range look super stylish, and certainly bang on trend BUT it also keeps your skin protected from the elements, soft, healthy and youthful at the same time – yep, it exists and I for one, am pretty excited.

What’s fab about this collection is that it’s from the Cancer Council. I know, right?! Aptly named the ‘Gotcha Covered’ range, it’s designed to keep your skin safe from the sun, while also keeping up with the top fashion trends.  It includes everything from sunscreen and sunnies to apparel and hats. 

And even if I had no idea about its skin and body protecting properties, the range is made up of items that I would totally wear all the time anyway.

Take this fedora for example – so chic! Perfect for shielding your face from harsh UV rays and works everywhere – whether you wear it for a day down at the beach or a long summer lunch with the girls, or for that morning stroll with a coffee in hand.

Now, when it comes to rashies, I’ll be honest – I’ve never met one that I thought looked good. Although I’ve worn them – because after all, what matters most is protecting ourselves from the sun and preventing cancer – I can’t say that they were cool. But… I was forced to eat my words when I found this stripe rashie – comfy, lightweight and actually looks great.

These Wyoming reflective blue sunnies have the highest eye protection rating in Australia (EPF10) which is a huge added bonus. I keep them in the car as they are recommended for driving only and I reckon they look super cool too.

When the UV level is 3 or above, it’s so important to protect your skin from the sun. Applying sunscreen is one vital aspect of this and it’s essential for helping to prevent skin cancer (not to mention the signs of premature ageing). For my face, I love Cancer Council Daywear Matte. With an SPF50, I know it offers great protection. Plus, it’s dry-touch, making it the perfect primer for under make-up or just on its own for a fresh, natural look. I love how light it feels on my face.
