You know that I love me a pop of colour. Orange particularly is a favourite. But orange doesn’t need to only hit your fashion radar. It actually makes for one of the freshest makeup looks around.
So, I understand, you might be sitting here reading this and thinking to yourself that orange is one of the most difficult colours to pull off. In fact, it’s actually quite flattering on almost all skin tones; you just need to play around to find your best match.
Now when we say orange, we don’t necessarily mean the brightest of bright neon oranges, although for darker skin tones, that can work absolutely beautifully. However, in general, more muted hues like coral, peach and earthier orange tones are also really gorgeous when done right.
LipsYou may need to do some experimenting to find your perfect shade of orange, but when going for a coloured lip such as this, it’s best to keep the rest of your makeup fairly natural, especially your eyes. For a subtle soft orange lip, swiish loves M.A.C Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Style Surge. For something with a bit more bite to it, we recommend Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange.
BlushTo avoid coming out looking like an oompa-loompa we suggest a light matte bronzer for your cheeks, or even a slightly pinker tone of orange by using a coral blush. swiish recommends Napoleon Bronze Patrol bronzer or Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Coral.
EyesIf you’re keeping your lip colour neutral and want your eyes to pop that little bit more then go for a light orange or burnt rusty orange shadow. Trust us, it looks stunning – brown eyes are accentuated and blue eyes absolutely pop. Actress Marion Cotillard is a fan of this look. We love Napoleon Colour Discs in Orange Zest, and if you’re brave enough or love the trend as much as we do, then give their Tequila Sunrise colour a shot.
NailsIf you’re completely unconvinced in the eyes or lips department, then at least let your nails feel the love! BYS Nail Polish in Tempt Me Tangerine is a bargain at $3.95 and your nails will appreciate the burst of colour as we head into cooler months. |
