We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again, we love living a luxe for less lifestyle. Although we’re nailing the clothes, beauty and homewares (thanks SWIISH online store), it can be tricky to find gorgeous art at an affordable price.
A lot of the time, so many of us are busy getting gadgets or furniture, and making sure that the kiddies are all set up in their bedrooms that we forget that art can make a huge aesthetical difference in a room, and in making a house a home.
We wrote about different places to find affordable art last year and since then, both of us have moved house so it couldn’t have been a more timely post! Taking our own SWIISH advice, we searched Urban Road to find a gorgeous piece for each of us to hang in our humble abodes.
Urban Road was truly a one-stop shop and it was hard to resist adding every item to our shopping cart. From cushions and rugs to premium art, posters and prints, it was really tough choosing just one piece each.
Sally ended up choosing the landscape Coastal Fjord, framed in black (below). The material of the framing ensures that the print won’t fade so it will go perfectly in Sal’s sunny living / dining room. Coastal Fjord is a part of the 2017 Autumn Winter Collection, Illusion, which explores the opposing forces present in the female form. It’s a collection of work that says women are kind yet fierce and simple yet complicated. We were drawn to the juxtaposition of the colours in Coastal Fjord, as it can be adapted to any room of the house. It would look just as gorgeous above a hall table as it would in a home office or as a part of a gallery hanging in a hallway.
Also from the Illusion range, Maha chose the landscape Materialise, also framed in black (below). This is a much moodier piece, which exudes mystery and uncertainty. It would be perfect as a statement piece in a bedroom with lots of gorgeous black, grey and navy textured linens and cushions.
After the expenses of moving and spending hours putting together Ikea furniture (we don’t know why we do it to ourselves), we love that Urban Road can deliver affordable art to our door and it’s guaranteed to look amazing in our new homes.
