These days, eeeverybody is busy. Let’s face it, we live in a world where time is precious, back-to-back commitments are the norm and “do you have a minute?” is kind of a crazy question. Ha ha!
But for most people (the SWIISH team included), having lots to do isn’t the issue. In fact, we love being busy! Instead, the issues arise when something sets our schedule back. Yep! We’re talking about broken heels, traffic jams, coffee spills and everything in between.
Out of all the common ‘day disrupters’ though, unexpected pain and discomfort have to be the worst. Whether we’re working on our feet or sitting at a desk all day, nothing kills our productivity like a pair of tired eyes or way-too-tight shoes. Even things like headaches, backaches and sore muscles can keep us from functioning at our peak.
Below, we’ve put together some of our top tips for eliminating daily discomfort so that you can keep powering through your day #likeaboss. It’s time to put an end to day disrupters once and for all!
If you’re part of the large percentage of Australians that stare at a screen most of the day, then strained eyes are something you know all too well. Not only does having sore eyes slow you down, but it can also lead to other issues such as headaches.
There are a few things that we do to combat this issue. Firstly, making sure we’re not sitting too close to our computer. We try to take a few ‘eye breaks’ now and again by looking away from the screen. We find that regular, unmedicated eye drops are great for freshening up your eyes. We’ve also invested in special blue-light blocking lenses, which are available at a number of optometrists. Trust us, you’ll notice the difference!
Everybody has that one bra that’s probably a little past its used by date. It’s had one too many washes and now, the metal boning is peeping through the back. Eeek!
We all know how uncomfortable (and distracting) this can be. To temporarily fix the problem, try using a bit of tape to cover up the piece sticking out. The tape will be a whole lot smoother on your skin and will stop the metal from scratching you.
Whether you’re wearing them to fit the dress code, to gain some height or simply to make your legs look good, high-heels aren’t always that comfy. If we find ourselves on our feet for more than a few hours, they can start to hurt. That’s where gel cushions come in! The SWIISH team slip these babies into our shoes to help relieve pressure off the balls of our feet so that we can keep stomping through our day in style.
Out of all the little day disrupters, a headache has to be the worst. When this happens, the obvious option is to take a painkiller. There are a whole lot of them to choose from but when a headache strikes in the SWIISH office, Nurofen Zavance is our number one and as far as we’re concerned, a total lifesaver.
Due to its different formulation, Nurofen Zavance tablets and caplets are absorbed up to two times faster than standard Nurofen. And let’s be real, who doesn’t want their headache to go away fast? We also love that it can be taken without food, water only. That means there’s no waiting until lunchtime to have your headache disappear – you can kick that pain to the curb as soon as it strikes!
Nurofen works at the site of the pain. This is why we use it to treat neck and back pain as well. We seriously don’t know what we’d do without it!
It’s 3pm on a Wednesday arvo, your head’s about to hit the desk and the coffee cravings are getting real. Yep, we’ve all been there! While there’s nothing wrong with coffee (hey, we’re up to our 2nd cup today), it tends to lose its effect after a while. Instead, try standing up and having a stretch, stepping outside and getting some fresh air or going for a short walk. We find not getting enough H2O can really slow us down. Make sure you’re getting 8 glasses a day!
