When it comes to picking bathroom products, what influences your choice? It could be necessity (I mean, if you need soap, you need soap!) it could be because it’s the best of the best or it could be because it just looks plain cool! For us, it’s typically all three. Is that too much to ask?
One thing that a lot of people don’t always consider though is where their bathroom products come from… So, we think it’s time to start! That’s one of the reasons we decided to try out Dr. Bronner’s famous body care range. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re basically one of the best ethical, fair-trade, organic body care brands you can buy. Their mission is to create a positive impact on the world through products that are both socially and environmentally responsible. Oh and of course, super high quality.
Dr. Bronner also sources all their major raw materials from certified Fair Trade and organic projects around the world, to help ensure fair prices and living wages for farmers, workers and families. So basically when you buy their products, you’re helping to make someone else’s life better. We love that!
The funny thing is, even if we didn’t know all this about Dr.Bronner, we probably still would have bought their stuff. Why? Because it all looks so good! They arrive in an assortment of bright colours and covered in unique philosophical writing that’s so different to anything else around. They’re cool, quirky and definitely something we’d want to keep on display. Oh and did we mention it’s made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic? Yep… these guys have thought of everything!
The brand makes a bunch of different products – organic pump soap, organic lip balm, organic lotion and organic hair care. But the one we were most excited to try was their signature Pure-Castille Liquid Soap. Famous for having 18-in-1 uses, this versatile soap can be used to wash your face, body and hair, to shave, to rinse fruit and vegetables, to wash dishes, in your laundry, to clean makeup brushes, even to wash your dog!
We tried it out in the shower as a soap and shampoo and it worked a treat. Soft skin? Check! Shiny hair? Check! The best part was that it smelt soooo good. We used the Lavender and the Cherry Blossom, but it also comes in Citrus, Almond, Rose, Eucalyptus and a whole lot of other gorgeous scents.
The bottom line is, if you’re going to spend money on bath products, you might as well spend it knowing you’re helping the planet at the same time.
