So my Dancing journey has sadly come to an end… Although I would’ve loved to have stayed on a little longer, at the same time, I am so happy to have challenged myself through the experience and am incredibly proud to have raised some money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. They are such an important organisation and I was truly honoured to be representing them and raising money for the all too important work they do.
So this week was Rock Night and oh my gosh it was so much fun!! As a self-confessed rocker there’s nothing I love more than a bit of head-banging and air guitar to my favourite rock bands. Carmelo and I danced the Paso Doble this week and I was lucky enough to dance to Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer! As my closest friends and family will know, that was like a dream come true for me. I absolutely L O V E Bon Jovi and although I don’t think I was exactly livin’ on a prayer with this dance I still had a blast being swung around the dance floor by Carmelo and singing along to one of my all-time favourite songs (even though Carmelo said strictly NO singing…. sorry Carmelo… I really couldn’t help myself). There were a few little things that went wrong in my dance this week (like a wardrobe malfunction with that darn skirt!) but I truly didn’t mind at all as I had so much fun!
This week I had my mum, my sister Maha and even my little monkey, Annabelle there cheering me on and it was so wonderful to have that support there with me. I know Maha loves Bon Jovi as much as I do and I swear I heard her screaming out the lyrics too when I was dancing. There’s no doubt about it that Annabelle is going to grow up knowing the words to every Bon Jovi song there is.
I was pretty nervous when it got down to the bottom two in the elimination and although Carmelo and I are sad to be leaving the competition we will still be cheering on all the other dancers and celebs each week as they battle it out on the dance floor.
I really can’t thank the beautiful Carmelo enough for all the time, effort and patience he put into training me and choreographing dances that meant something to me, particularly our Week 3 dance which told my story from the last couple of years. If you ever want somebody to teach you dancing then he’s your guy! Also so much love and thanks to the rest of the Dancing With The Stars contestants and crew – I had a blast hanging out with you guys each week! I look forward to coming back for the show’s finale!
Thank you also to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for all your support throughout my time on Dancing and to everyone who cheered me on, voted for me and wished me well! Your love, support and well-wishes got me through each week and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity!
If you still want to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation then you can visit their site here and show your support.
Love Sal xx
